Hey yall, my name is Esi Kagale Agyeman. I am born to a Ghanaian scholar and a Ugandan beauty-queen. I like to say that I embody both of those qualities. I was born December 4^th 1987 in Glenridge NJ. My whole life has been split between two worlds. My parents are divorced- so when I am in my West Orange NJ residence I eat fufu and light soup, and when I am in my Montclair NJ residence I eat matoke and ground-nut stew. I don’t know if that means anything to you, but if it doesn’t look it up! Lol. Instead of fighting my reality, I have embraced it. I studied in Ghana for a semester and am currently studying in Uganda. Home is home, and I love it.

I’ve been singing since I was small. I associate my singing’s beginning with the time that I was singing one of Ariel’s songs in “The Little Mermaid” and my mom said “Esi, very good, wow!” Maybe that was the day I realized “hey I can sing.” As a teenager singing was part of my day. It was like a mandatory thing I had to do, even before homework. I would get home and immediately put in a CD, (usually Beyonce!- oh… Destiny’s Child…oops) and learn from her (damn I did it again, them). I would sing for hours, rewinding the CD back and forth until I got it right. I won’t give you the corny- “Singing is my life, it’s a love affair between me and music.” That’s not me. I love music. I love to sing because I like the way it feels. Every time one does something that gives out a positive result they become linked to it. Singing makes me feel good. I am still trying to find out if my music can have the same effect on others. For now, it is about how it makes me feel. If you all like it… maybe you’ll encourage me to take it further.

This song, “I’m Not Scared,” is a song I wrote in middle school -- this actually isn’t even the original version. But after playing around with some beats with Tom from Sick Minute Records, I decided this 9+ year old song could weather some adjustments. I plan on putting out the original because I am inherently linked to it. So to make a long story short, this is a bit of an experiment, not my best, but let me know what you think.
